Flowerbeds line the perimeter of the Centre (below windows), creating a soft barrier between the users of the building and the public outside.
The car park can hold twelve vehicles, with two spaces dedicated for disabled use.
The car park is paved in open cell masonry, preventing surface water flooding by allowing rainwater to slowly drain into the soil below.
Where possible, existing trees onsite have been maintained.

The Learning Centre’s internal courtyard is fenced off to secure the premises, with gates to allow users to exit for fire drills. The fences are made of Corten steel, chosen because of the material's colour which sits comfortably against the unbaked brick of the buildings.
A barrier seperates the nursery playground and the main courtyard area. The fence is staggered so that the nursery children and adult users can engage with each other, while ensuring the children’s security. A gate allows children to pass into the main courtyard at staff’s discretion.
Entrances to the buildings, and paths within the courtyard, are paved with a permeable pavement solution, allowing water to slowly saturate into the earth.
Constructed mounds slowly diffuse water, while also transporting water down into the rain gardens at their base.
