2015 UK population
2040 population predictions
Proportion of population
that are elderly
People over 65

The UK has an elderly population that is swiftly growing. By 2040 predictions suggest 1 in 4 will be over the age of 65. As a consequence, all public services will have to develop to support these elderly people. I believe education systems will therefore too have to respond, allowing people to learn, train and develop their knowledge in later years.

Furthermore, these elderly people have a wealth of wisdom that the general populace can, and ought to, benefit from. Educational developments ought to allow the exchange of knowledge between varying groups of people of differing ages.

Elderly people who have partaken in learning
Skills and talents
Elderly people who have taken part in learning in the last 3 years
17% of 65-74 year-olds
13% aged 75+
76% of older people believe the country fails to make good use of their skills and talents
